BLUEFIELD, VA – 91ѡ is pleased to announce the hiring of Rebecca Kasey as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
“We are very happy to have Rebecca joining the University in this important role,” said President Dr. David Olive. “We look forward to her serving as the lead author of the 91ѡ story, our marketing coordinator, and as our connection to our many friends in the media.”
Kasey currently serves as the Business Operations and Marketing Coordinator for the City of Bluefield’s Community and Economic Development Department. There she has coordinated projects such as the “Business in MyBluefield” Video Program and was a key coordinator for the Intuit announcement and move into the City of Bluefield. She also managed the publicity, website, and social media, for the Department’s MyBluefield campaign.
“Rebecca has done a wonderful job capturing the energy and essence of our greater community through video and photography,” said Chris Shoemaker, a former Director of Public Relations and Marketing and now a faculty member. “We look forward to having her back on campus to showcase campus life and all 91ѡ offers.”
Kasey is a 2017 graduate of 91ѡ, a former member of the 91ѡ Rams Tennis team, and a current member of the 91ѡ Alumni Association Board of Directors. As a student, she also served as an intern for the 91ѡ Public Relations and Marketing Department. She resides in Bluefield, West Virginia with her husband, Rodney (’15) who also works at 91ѡ as the Director of the Herb Sims Wellness Center and as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Athletics Department.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve my alma mater and community. I want to thank the City of Bluefield and Jim Spencer, Community and Economic Development Director, for the wonderful opportunities that have prepared me for this next step,” said Kasey.
